Exterior Siding & Cladding - Steel

 

Steel is not a commonly used siding due to its cost, difficulty in handling and corrosion problems.

 

Most Suited To:

Special effect areas, away from corrosive environments.

Cost:

Can be expensive.

Benefits:

Durability: Forty years to life of structure.

Won't rot, blister, or burn. Resistent to insects and bird attack.

Considerations:

Difficult to handle and cut. Rusts if scratched.

Finishing:

Scratches and cuts need to be sealed to prevent rust.

Maintenance:

Hose off annually. Paint scratches to prevent rust.

Options:

Steel extruded panels are available in a wide range of factory-baked colors, smooth and wood-grain textures.

Types and dimensions are the same as vinyl.

Installation:

Best reserved for professionals.
