New Kitchen Options
Since we have decided that our current kitchen has some key issues
we have opted to replace the kitchen completely. The only recycling
will be the kitchen sink unit and tapware.
As I searched for kitchen suppliers to repair my leaky home I set
the goal to find a supplier that would provide a good quality kitchen,
with the range of cupboard accessories I required, a good range
of cabinet and benchtop options and a high quality of workmanship.
The price range for kitchens is probably higher than for any other
room in the house. With a little design flair, one can add that
additional touch of glamour often only seen in very pricey imported
kitchen design.
My two best options to date are Kitchen Studio, and surprisingly
Placemakers, although the latter does not offer pull out pantries.
Kitchen Brief
For my kitchen brief I included:
- Moisture Resistant structure
- High durability and stain resistance for both cabinets and benchtops
- High quality glide mechanisms for drawers and pull out pantries
- Modern styling
But before I set off to find the best kitchen, I decided to do
a bit of research on materials used to build kitchens. My findings
are documented here in:
Selection
My final selection was to use:
- Melamine Covered MR MDF cabinets and drawers
- Engineered stone counter tops
- Cupboard Accessores: pull out pantry, 3/4 carousel corner units,
- New oven and cooktops
- Kitchen sink and tapware from the existing kitchen
- Underbench 5 litre instant hot water system
- Wine refrigerator
- L.E.D strip lighting for toe space and under cabinets
- Wooden floors
